Saturday of Pre-Camp was long, fun, and exciting! We started the day with chapel program, which was a little singing then story telling.
We then went off campus for some interaction with nature. The kids could pick either hiking at Fiery Gizzard or walking Abbo's Alley. Here are some shots from Abbo's Alley:
In the afternoon we had time at the playground, toured the "big kid cabins", then had a slip and slide:
After that we hit up the pool:
Saturday night brought the tradition of the banquet and closing Eucharist.
And then it was time for the Carnival!
Park from the South Cumberland State Park brought critters for the kids to check out - two snakes and a turle, plus some cool teeth, fossils, and such:
And with that, we went off to bed, worn out from a full full day!
Until next time...

Pre-Camp Day Two.
The second day of Pre-Camp was the first full day of camp. We had a lot of fun getting to know each other and getting to know Camp Gailor-Maxon.
Introductions in the chapel -
Singing songs in the chapel -
After we had chapel time we drove over to Sewanee to spend time at All Saints Chapel:
We played on the playground, toured the chapel, and hung out in the Quad before lunch. After lunch we had siesta (spelled Q-U-I-E-T) and then afternoon activities. One of our activities was "Science Experiment" with the Diet Cokes and Mentos experiment. The kids loved it -
We also made sock puppets in the art barn -
Then we went to the pool for some free swim time -
Then it was dinner time!
After dinner we had a treasure hunt. The kids went in family groups and travelled to six different activities where they had an objective to complete before they could get a piece of their treasure map puzzle.
Here they are doing the egg roll:
Costume Relay:
Balloon Toss:
Angry Birds:
Boys figuring out where their treasure is, using the map:
Then we had a bonfire:
And for a sneak into the life of the counselors - after the kids went to bed, the counselors went to the hiddee hole and had a little jam session.
Until next time!

Staff Week Day Six/Pre Camp Day One.
Thursday was a whirlwind of to-do lists! Thursday from morning until 4pm was spent preparing for Pre-Campers to arrive. There was lots of dividing and conquering taking place.
After a dinner as a staff at Mi Casa (a favorite Mexican restaurant on the Mountain), we prepared to register our Pre-Camp families!!
We did a lot of making door name sheets, decorating name tags, catching fireflies, and getting to know each other before having Compline and heading to bed.
Pre-Camp is going to be so much fun!
