Week 2 Campers have been amazing and a blast to have at camp! A few updates from the week include an adventurous trek out to Fiery Gizzard, Cabin Olympics, Counselor Hunt, a World Cup Championship, a special "spa" endeavor, and some enlightening and inspiring Chapel services, focused on the camp theme of "Hospitality". This group of campers knows how to jump right in to a challenge, make new friends, and have fun! Today campers will venture out to Sewanee to explore the campus and play games on the Quad. Tonight we will hold a beautiful evening service in the All Saints Chapel.
When we think about hospitality, we think of Southern casseroles and grandma's cookin, but this summer we want to dig deeper into the idea of hospitality. We want to look at our spiritual lives and how we treat strangers and those whom we may not know as well.
Following the morning's chapel service and family group time, we played a big group game called "Tap Your Neighbor" in which campers were given the unique call to encourage one another! Anonymously, campers tapped one another on the shoulder as a silent expression of gratitude and a way to say, "I see you." "You are doing good things." Some examples for this activity included, "Let someone know they have a great laugh." Or, "Tap someone who you would like to get to know before the week is over."
We must say, this group knows how to encourage, y'all! May we continue to grow together and be anointed with the gracious hospitality of Christ.
