Camp 3 has arrived!

Camp 3 is here with all kinds of sweet energy! These youth are way too much fun and every time we talk to them is a joy! Here's a bit how their first 36 hours have gone!
Once everyone was here and registered and settled in their cabins we had dinner and an opening Eucharist! It was so fun to start singing together again!

Afterwards we got to meet our family groups and then played a small game of capture the flag in the field. It was so good to run around and move everybody to get the week started!

This morning we woke up and after a little breakfast and cabin cleaning, we had chapel where we talked about how God is illuminated for us in nature. The counselors had a pretty funny skit about the creation story and then we went on a nature walk to see and express all the things outside we're thankful for (we might have snuck around to get this sweet picture of the Quesadilla group on their walk!) Finally we expressed our thankfulness on a stone which we then put on the stone altar. It was a really beautiful morning!

Next we went swimming and played some kickball before heading to lunch!
Once we had a little lunch and siesta in us we went on an adventure to hike to Green's View in Sewanee. It is a beautiful trail that leads to an even better view!

We then spent a little time in Abbo's Alley playing in the creek and gazebo before we headed back to camp!

Everyone was thrilled to have taco bar for dinner tonight which fueled us well for Cabin Olympics tonight! Cabin 5L came away with the overall win but with games like our own version of the Belmont Stakes, a raisin race, water balloon toss, 4-legged race and ultimate ships and sailors are there actually winners and losers? I don't think so!

Everyone is safe and snug in their beds so we will be rested for another big day tomorrow! Don't forget to stay tuned to the Instagram and Twitter accounts for live action updates throughout the days!

Staff Week Is Finally Here!

Well folks, we played zebratonicus, had lunch (about to be dinner!) in the dining hall and went on a hike in Sewanee so it must actually be that #CGM2015 is actually here! We had a blast today getting to know each other and spending a beautiful day on the mountain. With a great evening prayer planned we know it will be a great, relaxing evening.

Here is a pic of some of the staff at Green's View today, the mid-point of our hike!

Just think-1 week from right now our first group of campers- the Mini-Maxons- will be sititng down at dinner!

Camp 3: Monday!

Can't believe our first day of Camp 3 is already over! We had so much fun yesterday! Here's a little overview of what we did!
We started with breakfast- biscuits and gravy!- and then the usual cabin clean up.
After cabin clean up we had chapel, where we talked about different water stories and how water affects our lives everyday. Funny thing- God put water in the middle of a lot of stories in the Bible, we're wondering if that was on purpose...
Each family group made a skit of their take on these stories and presented it to the group. When we finished chapel we learned one of the most important CGM traditions- the CGM line dance! Our youth did so well with it!

Of course we had a delicious lunch of corn dogs and then a glorious siesta (which at CGM is spelled Q-U-I-E-T) because we were all so tired from an already busy morning!
When we woke up we were ready for a full afternoon! We got to choose between 3 things: rapelling at Fiery Gizzard, swimming at Fiery Gizzard or staying on campus for Arts & Crafts for tie dye and the pool! All were a blast and everyone was having fun!

We washed the dirt off and then it was time for one of the best nights of the week- taco bar night!! And to make it even better, we had banana pudding too! Too much yummy for CGM to handle!

Next we moved to Eucharist! We are so lucky to have Father Terry Street from Memphis here for the week! Welcome Father Terry! The singing was so joyous and every bit of the service had the Holy Spirit present!

After Eucharist we learned how to play a game called Ships and Sailors!

Next we went into our Messy Cabin Olympics! We had Couselor Trivia, Name that tune, a frozen t-shirt relay and a Bubblegum-flour relay to name a few! We were laughing and running all night long!

We had a brief closing prayer and went to bed- we are so grateful for a good night of sleep so we can be ready for Tuesday!
