Camp 3: Monday!

Can't believe our first day of Camp 3 is already over! We had so much fun yesterday! Here's a little overview of what we did!
We started with breakfast- biscuits and gravy!- and then the usual cabin clean up.
After cabin clean up we had chapel, where we talked about different water stories and how water affects our lives everyday. Funny thing- God put water in the middle of a lot of stories in the Bible, we're wondering if that was on purpose...
Each family group made a skit of their take on these stories and presented it to the group. When we finished chapel we learned one of the most important CGM traditions- the CGM line dance! Our youth did so well with it!

Of course we had a delicious lunch of corn dogs and then a glorious siesta (which at CGM is spelled Q-U-I-E-T) because we were all so tired from an already busy morning!
When we woke up we were ready for a full afternoon! We got to choose between 3 things: rapelling at Fiery Gizzard, swimming at Fiery Gizzard or staying on campus for Arts & Crafts for tie dye and the pool! All were a blast and everyone was having fun!

We washed the dirt off and then it was time for one of the best nights of the week- taco bar night!! And to make it even better, we had banana pudding too! Too much yummy for CGM to handle!

Next we moved to Eucharist! We are so lucky to have Father Terry Street from Memphis here for the week! Welcome Father Terry! The singing was so joyous and every bit of the service had the Holy Spirit present!

After Eucharist we learned how to play a game called Ships and Sailors!

Next we went into our Messy Cabin Olympics! We had Couselor Trivia, Name that tune, a frozen t-shirt relay and a Bubblegum-flour relay to name a few! We were laughing and running all night long!

We had a brief closing prayer and went to bed- we are so grateful for a good night of sleep so we can be ready for Tuesday!

Camp 2: Tuesday

Tuesday morning we all woke up from a great night of sleep and were ready to go! In the morning we had chapel where we learned about laying down our nets- all of those things that keep us from God. For some people those nets are a sport, for some it's social media, cell phones or even a friend who keeps us from growing a relationship with Christ. Since that was pretty personal we put those things in an envelope and then on our big net in the Downstairs Chapel. We finished off with a big game of magic tambourine and danced/laughed/sang ourselves to lunch!

After a hamburger lunch and a quiet siesta, we were ready for afternoon activities! The campers could choose to either go off campus to a hike called "Shakerag" in Sewanee or stay on campus for a bunch of different activities including yoga, baking, field games, and pool to name a few highlights!

Last night was the ever-popular counselor hunt, where our campers search for the counselors who are hidden in various disguises. The campers last night caught half of our counselors- a pretty good number! Once caught, the "prisoner" counselors go back to "jail" (the pool) and wait for their "hunters" (a family group) to finish and we all come back to the pool to find out what the campers have charged each counselor with. Naturally they are guilty and those who are found are pushed into the pool as punishment! It's an age-old camp tradition that we wouldn't miss for the world! Finally we had a brief evening prayer & learned to sing the Lord's Prayer. Everyone was so tired last night that after a little night swim for everyone we went straight to bed and fell fast asleep. We're ready for more fun today!
