Camp 3 has arrived!

Camp 3 is here with all kinds of sweet energy! These youth are way too much fun and every time we talk to them is a joy! Here's a bit how their first 36 hours have gone!
Once everyone was here and registered and settled in their cabins we had dinner and an opening Eucharist! It was so fun to start singing together again!

Afterwards we got to meet our family groups and then played a small game of capture the flag in the field. It was so good to run around and move everybody to get the week started!

This morning we woke up and after a little breakfast and cabin cleaning, we had chapel where we talked about how God is illuminated for us in nature. The counselors had a pretty funny skit about the creation story and then we went on a nature walk to see and express all the things outside we're thankful for (we might have snuck around to get this sweet picture of the Quesadilla group on their walk!) Finally we expressed our thankfulness on a stone which we then put on the stone altar. It was a really beautiful morning!

Next we went swimming and played some kickball before heading to lunch!
Once we had a little lunch and siesta in us we went on an adventure to hike to Green's View in Sewanee. It is a beautiful trail that leads to an even better view!

We then spent a little time in Abbo's Alley playing in the creek and gazebo before we headed back to camp!

Everyone was thrilled to have taco bar for dinner tonight which fueled us well for Cabin Olympics tonight! Cabin 5L came away with the overall win but with games like our own version of the Belmont Stakes, a raisin race, water balloon toss, 4-legged race and ultimate ships and sailors are there actually winners and losers? I don't think so!

Everyone is safe and snug in their beds so we will be rested for another big day tomorrow! Don't forget to stay tuned to the Instagram and Twitter accounts for live action updates throughout the days!

Camp 1 is in the house (or cabins?)

Camp 1 has arrived friends! They came with a whole lot of energy and ready to roll. It was a great day of getting to know each other in our cabins, taking the swim test, lasagna and then we had a beautiful Eucharist with our Priest for the week-Kira Schlesinger!

Then we spent a little time in our family groups before we started a big ole game of capture the flag!

We are so excited for our first full day of camp 1 today!

Camp 3 Arrives!

Good morning everyone! Can you believe we started the last week of camp yesterday? We're loving every second and don't want to leave!

Camp 3 arrived yesterday afternoon ready to rock and roll! We had a smooth bus ride-Frozen sing-a-long included. When we got here we finished registration we took the swim test and went to dinner, our usual spaghetti! After dinner we played a couple games and then had a scavenger hunt where at each stop the family groups had to win a game together before they got their next clue. Here is a picture of Kaboom! and Pictionary!

Afterwards we played a round of capture the flag and finally ended with Compline in the pavilion. Below are a bunch of candid shots from the day. We're getting really into selfies this summer and they're turning out pretty great!

We're so glad to have all our campers here and thrilled we get to spend this week with them!

Camp 2 Arrives!

Camp 2 is here and we are so excited to have them! Since the moment they stepped off the bus we have been going 24/7 with so many new and old faces!
After registration was squared away and everyone had safely arrived, we took our swim test. Don't worry parents, everyone passed and now we can just enjoy the pool!

Our traditional first night dinner of spaghetti was delicious as always- and we celebrated Jackson Hays' birthday! (Because really, the best way to celebrate a birthday is at camp!) We're so glad we got to celebrate you today Jackson!

After dinner we went to our opening Eucharist. Father Battle Beasley of Antioch joined us and led us in a renewal of our Baptismal Covenant. He walked around with an aspergillum (a device to disperse holy water on people- we used a pine tree branch) and gave us all a little living water to start the week!

Next we had to introduce our staff and go over our CGM Covenant- aka our rules. To introduce ourselves, the staff put on a little skit. We had a lot of fun being silly while telling our campers a little bit about us!

We finished up the night with a round of capture the flag and a snack and went to bed! Thanks so much for following us at CGM! We will keep you updated!

Camp 1 Arrives!

Camp 1 arrived yesterday and we are so glad to start our first full week of campers! The bus got here without a hitch! We went through registration, got all of our campers here and it was time for the fun to begin!
Once everyone got here, we held our swim test. Once everyone passed and our lifeguards went through pool rules we got to have free swim until dinner!
After a wonderful spaghetti dinner, we had our opening Eucharist where we sang, celebrated together, and finally blessed the new votive holder for St. Andrew's Chapel as well as the new counselor rooms on our girls cabins! We cannot thank our builders enough as this space has doubled our capacity for girl campers!

We ended the night with a big game of capture the flag- with glow sticks! It turned out to be so much fun! We are so glad all of these youth are here with us this week and we are looking forward to a whole week of this much fun!
