Camp 3 does Tuesday!

We started saying "the last one of the summer" yesterday which is really quite sad, so we are really glad to have these campers here to soak up all our lasts and the joy that comes with getting to do it all one last time!
Our morning chapel time was focused on how God illuminates himself to us in scripture. It was really amazing to see these sweet youth discuss how God speaks to them in their favorite verses and prayers. I know several of these were posted yesterday on Instagram so sorry to be redundant, but these light bulbs have just blown me away. Child-like faith is an amazing thing!

After chapel we learned some good ole CGM songs (One Tin Soldier, Little Boxes, Prunie, etc) and finally played what everyone had been asking for- MAGIC TAMBOURINE! (We did play other games such as Car-Dog-Fire Hydrant and Zebratonicus but something about Magic Tambourine gets everyone more excited than anything else.)

Once we were fed at lunch and rested at siesta we went to our afternoon activities- either rock climbing at Foster Falls, swimming at Foster Falls or staying on campus to go to the playground and Art Barn!

The evening was when the staff realized we were starting the list of lasts as we had counselor hunt. Unfortunately the weather pushed counselor hunt inside but in the end we got to silly string our counselors so I don't know that was actually a loss.

Today is Sewanee adventure day, a fan favorite around here so we will be posting about it soon!

Camp 2 is rockin and rollin on the mountain!

Hello all! We can't believe that Camp 2 is already here and movin and shakin! We've had a blast in our first 48 hours! Here's a summary of what we've done!
We started with a big ole game of Do You Love Your Neighbor- it includes a lot of running and laughing, perfect for this big and fun crew!

After dinner (lasagna- yum!) we got to know our family groups and play some games together, which was awesome. Next up on the docket was a game of Capture the Flag in the field- always a fan favorite!

The yesterday morning (Monday) we had breakfast and cabin clean up before Father Terry Street led us in a beautiful opening Eucharist. It was so fun to hear a little bit more about our theme and worship and sing together! There is so much joyful noise with this group!
We spent the rest of the morning swimming and playing kickball- quite the combo for our youth!

Once we had lunch and a nice long rest for siesta we went to afternoon activities- both on campus and off! Several campers went to Foster Falls where they got to swim or go rock climbing with the South Cumberland State Park Rangers- thanks Ranger Jason for taking us!

On campus we spent time at the art barn, playing soccer, doing a little bit of experimenting with science and baking just to name a few!

After dinner we spent time talking about how God is illuminated in creation for us. Since we are in such a beautiful area it is easy to see all the ways God reveals himself in nature to us. Each youth also contributed a pebble to the stone altar- funny how every little stone makes a difference!

After chapel we had the famous cabin olympics! With events like a Raisin relay, 4 legged race and name that tune (name that tune waved to the blog last night!)

Finally we ended with the Camp Gailor-Maxon prayer and a big thank you to Brown Myers for leading us all in that special prayer!

Camp 2: Monday!

Our first full day at camp was full of action and adventure! We started the day with a favorite breakfast- biscuits and gravy- followed by a little cabin clean up!

When we met back up after clean up for chapel where we talked about water and several of the bible stories that are about water. Water is used for healing, celebrating, joyful occasions and more. We went to small groups and made skits about our own interpretations of these stories. When we returned we shared our skits- which included everything from a Starbucks recreation to a funny bible reading and interpretation.

We had lunch (with a bunch of mail for mail call!) and siesta and were ready for action again!
In the afternoon we had the option of either going climbing at Foster Falls or staying on campus for Arts & Crafts, field games, pool, etc. We had a ton of fun and were ready for some down time during free time!

After dinner we had Messy Cabin Olympics! We started with name that tune and counselor trivia and then moved into the messy part like the "blow a bubble relay" and "peanut butter cheese puff awesomeness" (don't worry- we checked for allergies!) After a big round of "dodge sponge" (dodge ball with sponges) we had the frozen t-shirt relay. Everyone had a blast and was exhausted so we slept well last night!

We're ready for another good day today (Tuesday)! We'll keep posting pictures!
