Monday was our first full day of Camp Two! It was rainy but that didn't stop us from having fun.
We started the morning with our chapel program - gathered in the Downstairs Chapel, singing and watching the counselors do a skit about our chapel theme.
Our chapel theme is a study of Mary and Martha, looking at the balance between the contemplative and active life in our faith. In the main story we use from the Bible, Mary is praying at the feet of Jesus while Martha cleans and gets the house ready. Martha complains to Jesus, and he tells her that Mary is doing the right thing at that moment.
Here is Cameron sharing some artist depictions of these two ancient sisters:
And here's our counselors doing a skit - Martha is suing Mary for the malpractice of Christianity and they are in a court room hashing it out. The jury "got lost on the way" so the kids are the jury.
After the skit the campers broke into their family groups to discuss the story and come up with their own version of the skit:
And then they performed the skits for everyone:
Then it was time to announce cabin clean-up - the boys of Cabin One won the golden dustpan and the rights to sign up for activities first.
After lunch and a sleepy siesta, the weather cleared up enough for us to play outside for afternoon activities. One group stayed on campus and played outdoor games and went swimming:
For a moment in the afternoon it was absolutely beautiful outside:
The other group went hiking at Foster Falls. They did about a 2 mile hike to the water hole.
And, with perfect timing, as afternoon activities were winding down, the skies turned grey once again:
After a rainy free time and dinner, it was time for Cabin Olympics, which we made mostly in the Pavilion and chapel just in case. Here's Cabin Six, ready to compete:
The first activity was a water balloon toss:
Cabin Five triumphed in the water balloon toss. After that was a game called "over under" where you try to fill the back bucket with as much water as possible from the front bucket:

The boys try out "over under":
Cabin Two's take on over under ended up being just to completely soak each other with the cup of water. Not much of the water made it to their bucket:
Then we played a game where you have to pass an orange using no hands.
And then it was time to go to the Downstairs Chapel where we played "Name that Tune" and counselor trivia. In "Name That Tune" you have to listen to a few seconds of a song and then get a chance to say what song played.
Here's some spectators:
And the teams competing:
Here's counselor trivia:
And lastly the cabins had a dance off. They were each given fifteen minutes to make up a dance to "You Make My Dreams" by Hall and Oates. Here's Cabin Six:
And Cabin Two:
The overall winners of Cabin Olympics were Cabin Six! They will get to go first in the taco bar line tomorrow night. Congratulations, girls!
