Pre Camp arrived today! The newest addition to our camp community is the session fondly known as Pre-Camp. We've been preparing for this camp since it was a wee little idea in the heads of a few people last summer. After a quick morning canoe trip, the staff prepared for the littlest members of our camp family to arrive.

Families started rolling in about 3pm and everyone was so excited. We weren't able to do the swim test today because it was chilly so we played in the pavilion and then went to the downstairs chapel for a game of "Ships and Sailors" before dinner. Dinner was spaghetti (of course - the only first night meal camp should have!) and then we moved to the downstairs chapel for the covenant. The campers signed their names, promising to abide by the covenant and then we moved on to some singing. Brie Wallace is our guest musician for the weekend and is not only talented musically, but is extremely talented with this age group. They learned some new songs today and had a blast. After learning about friendships in Christ for a little bit with Mark Frazier, who is serving as Pre-Camp priest, the kids got ready for the big night event - the bonfire! The parents and campers bundled up and headed over to the Stone Altar, where they learned about making a fire with Charles Houston while the s'mores were cooking in the oven. We all indulged in a smore or three and then settled in for some stories. Charles Houston told a story about a talking bear who ate the Biscuit family and Brie taught the campers "Sippin' Cider." A good time was had by all involved. We said our goodnight prayers and headed up to the halls for bed. I can tell friends are already being made and think it was a great first night for Pre-Camp.
