Camp Two: Part Three.

Tuesday brought more rain showers but that didn't slow us down - we had a very long, full day of camp! Every morning we have breakfast, then go to cabins for cabin cleanup, then come to to the chapel for songs and prayers before our chapel program for the morning.

We've been learning lots of songs and singing very loud!

The counselors taught a song called "Screen Door" that goes with the chapel program:

After that, Sisters Mary Martha (right) and Madeleine Mary (left) came to talk to the camp about their life as Episcopal nuns at the St. Mary's Convent in Sewanee. We focused on the contemplative life of faith and works in our study of Mary and Martha. They answered questions and talked about their life in the Benedictine order.

After that we broke into family groups to make Anglican prayer beads to use in our own contemplative life:

Back in the large group, each family group was given a set of quotes to place on the "continuum"  - they were quotes about faith, work, or a mix of both. They read the quote and then decided where it should go:

Then the golden dustpan winner was announced - Cabin Six!

After lunch and siesta we headed to afternoon activities. On campus people could either go to Arts and Crafts or Field Games first:

Then we had the option of pool or baking:

The pool was actually sunny and nice -

this picture was funny because way off in the distance was a storm cloud which makes this picture look strange:

The next activity was a popular one - all the on campus kids chose to sign up for "science experiment", where they did an egg drop using limited supplies. They assembled in teams and made contraptions that would protect their egg from a three floor drop:

Then they had to assess if it broke or not.

And not a single egg broke!

The other half of the kids chose to hike Fiery Gizzard for the afternoon.

Once everyone was back on campus we had free time and dinner before our night activities. For the night we assembled in the downstairs chapel where we played a camp favorite - magic tambourine. In this game, one person starts out with the tambourine and the music plays. They pick up a friend and everyone dances as more people get picked up until the original person drops the tambourine. The music stops and everyone scatters to seats. Last one standing starts it again.

Then it was time for counselor hunt! 10 counselors hid around campus and the family groups went to go "hunt them". Here are the suspects:

The campers found seven of the 10 counselors. The punishment? Getting silly stringed by the group that found you!

After that it was time for prayers, snack, and bed! What a busy day.
