This weekend was a busy one! Camp Two, our middle schoolers, left Saturday after a wonderful week. The counselors proceeded to nap for the remainder of the day, go eat some non-camp food, and then prepare for our Camp Three kids to arrive.
The morning Camp Two was leaving there were lots of goodbyes - here's Cody taking a picture of his family group:
And Callie and Alex with their family group:
And our circle to sing Country Roads one last time:
Once goodbyes were said, T-shirts were handed out, and emails were exchanged, we packed up and loaded the Memphis bus:
The kids always form a hug line to say goodbye and then chase the bus out of the parking lot:
Then the rest of the kids got picked up by their parents and said their goodbyes too:
And then the campus was quiet for a bit...
And then it was time for Camp Three!! Registration started at 2 on Sunday. We were so excited to see everyone, particularly three of our awesome volunteers for the week - the Street family! Andrew, Edie, and Nick are back for the week. We're so happy to have them.
After registration we went right into the "swim test" before doing some free swimming since it was so hot. The kids have to tread water for 45 seconds and swim to the other side of the pool so the lifeguards know the swimming abilities - safety, safety, safety!
Then it was time for spaghetti dinner and Eucharist. After feasting together, we had staff introductions and signed our covenant for the week:
A funny observation: parents, you may notice that all the girls are on the right side and the boys are on the left side. The kids have self segregated when we sit in groups. We'll see if it continues.
Then it was back to cabins for get-to-know-you games and showers for bedtime! More to come about all the fun we're having on Monday. Stay tuned!
