Well, the Camp One kids got off safely! We were so sad to see them go. It was truly a wonderful week full of blessings and laughter. Our last morning together was both sad and special. We shared one last singing of Country Roads together in the pavilion before Josh prayed over us and sent them out into the world.
Then we headed back to the cabins to finish packing and loading up, as well as saying goodbyes:
We loaded the bus kids up and did our traditional hug line:
And then the kids were gone and the staff had the rest of the day off to rest (or work, in Cody's case..):
And before we knew it, Camp Two was here! The kids checked in and upacked in their cabin before jumping in to the traditional swim test - because who doesn't want to wear their swimsuit for the first hours of camp in front of people they don't know? Humor aside, the swim test is important for helping us see who can swim in the water holes off campus where the water is very deep.
After the first night spaghetti, we headed to the downstairs chapel for an opening Eucharist full of songs and praise. Then we did introductions and read/signed the covenant, which lists the guidelines and expectations for camp.
Then it was time to meet family groups and so the different groups of kids went off with their family group leaders to do ice breakers and get to know each other. After that we had snack and then headed to bed! What a full first night of Camp Two!
